How Nikki turns chaotic mom life into community

Nikki’s story is about more than balancing motherhood, Type 1 Diabetes, content creation, and founder life. It is about showing the real behind-the-scenes: the messy days, the low blood sugars, the toddler chaos, the dog cuddles, the burnout, and the joy. From sharing her life with Cav and Major to building Mom Files, Nikki reminds us that strength does not have to look perfect. Sometimes it looks like taking things day by day, asking for help, and creating a safe space where people feel less alone.

Nikki’s Blueberry Edition GloGlo jar celebrates the real, supportive, extroverted-introvert energy she brings to motherhood, Type 1 Diabetes, and community.

1. Can you introduce yourself?

I’m Nikki. I’m a mom to a wild little toddler boy, Cav, dog mom to Major, a creator, co-owner of Mom Files, and I’ve lived with Type 1 Diabetes for 24 years. I love sharing real life online: the fun moments, the chaos, the diabetes side, the mom life side, and everything in between.

2. How do you balance motherhood, diabetes, creating, and building something?

I take it day by day and learn as I go. There really is no secret routine. Life throws a lot at you, and you just have to roll with the punches. Motherhood and diabetes both taught me the same thing: do your best, give yourself grace, and don’t be so hard on yourself.

I also could not do it without my husband, Darren. He is a huge support for me and such a present, involved father. He is part of every piece of this journey, and he is a big reason I can keep juggling motherhood, diabetes, creating, and building. If it was not for him, I would have lost my mind at this point.

3. What do you wish more people understood about being a mom with Type 1 Diabetes?

That we are really trying our best. There is no perfect way to do it. What works for one person may not work for another, and everything can affect diabetes: stress, sleep, motherhood, meals, movement, all of it. You have to tune out the noise and focus on what works for you, your body, your doctor, and your support system.

4. What helps you feel more prepared when you leave the house?

I always try to pack extras: diabetes supplies, insulin, and something in case my blood sugar drops. As a mom, the diaper bag is already full of Cav’s things, so I also need to make sure I have my own bag ready. Having GloGlos with me helps me feel more prepared when I’m out and about.

5. What inspired you to build Mom Files?

Mom Files started from friendship, motherhood, and wanting to create a space that felt real. We wanted something drama-free and not all about aesthetics. Real mom life is chaotic. It is not always pretty or perfect, and there are so many topics people do not talk about enough. We wanted to build a safe space where moms could share, ask questions, feel heard, and realize they are not alone.

6. What is your favorite part of the Nikki GloGlo jar?

Blueberry is my favorite flavor, so having a blueberry Nikki Edition jar feels very me. If the jar had a personality, I would say it is a little socially awkward, bubbly, caring, supportive, and probably loves to dance. It is an extroverted introvert, just like me.
